i spent nearly my entire weekend working on this prosthetic. i made all the bites and intestines from scratch, so i'm kind of proud of myself (that being said, critique is always more than welcome).
i kind of forgot how i was supposed to do it, and this was my first time making a prosthetic all by myself, so this probably isn't the proper technical method. but for those interested, this was my process: -make a flat slab of plaster (i used ultracal) in a large tupperware container, making sure to grease the sides so you can pop it out easily -get a block of non-drying modeling clay and carve into it. i had reference photos of human anatomy to base it off of, which is really important if you're going for realism -put that whole piece (plaster base included) back into the tupperware. spray everything with pam so there's no risk of sticking -pour more ultracal on top of this, making sure to cover everything -wait for it to dry, then take the pieces apart -peel off the clay and you have a mold! -use gelatin (which i wouldn't recommend as it smells disgusting) to fill it, wait for it to dry, colour, paint, etc
the main problem was that my edges were really thick and didn't blend properly, so i did an algae-rot type thing to blend them in a bit, and it actually ended up working quite well. i edited out a couple of the really apparent edges, but nothing besides that. this is taken in sunlight, so the green and red parts are a bit too contrasty, but i guess they had to be to cover the edges. i'll have some better pictures in a couple days once i get my cd from the photographer (with her full body, since you can't really see the zombie part of it in this), but i'll put some of the ones i took in my scraps in a bit.
